The trail is split into three sections (east, west, & central), although, while riding you really don't notice this.  It is basically a figure-eight loop with a distinctive two-way crossing that separates the East Loop.  If you've ridden the trail you know what I'm talking about.  It's the cliff that you have to climb up/down with your bike.  We've discussed trying to develop an alternative route around this two-way, but we just can't seem to make up our mind.  It's sometimes a pain and you have to dismount, but it sure adds character to the trail.  In fact it still has Dave Borrell's cemented steps to help you make it without breaking an ankle.  In the past the trail had many shortcut trails that allowed you to skip between a variety of sections and exit out to the road at various spots.  While many of these are still visible we have concentrated on keeping only the main trail open.  At some point if we have time we may go back and open these connection trails, but for now it's easier to maintain and less confusing for riders new to the trail.  Here are a few variations of the same map that I hope helps.  I've created PDF files out of them so they should all print easily on a single sheet of paper.  The third map I edited with a wobbly mouse to mark the main active trails.  Printing it in color will give you the best distinction between the separate sections.

NOTE:  This trail is rideable in either direction.  In fact the 2004 & 2005 Tour de Dirt race at Steed ran in the opposite direction and it was pretty cool.
