TOM STEED GREAT ESCAPE
It's RACE TIME! 2007
October 28, 2007

Registration on Race Day Only

Points of Emphasis
The Start/finish will move back to the location from years prior. It will be in the pavilion area closest to the boat ramp just east of the bathrooms and on the south side of the road. This is being done so that there will be no need to cross the paved road at any point.
The new section from last year that allows a full 7-mile loop is partially underwater so we will shorten the race back to the main 5 mile section.
This means that we will circle at the two-way crossing. You will not go down the two-way.
We are running the course in the regular direction (counter-clockwise).
NO KIDS Race.
Start Times / Distance
I thought we'd mix it up a bit and let the beginners get out on the course first.
Nipping it in the bud:) 5 miles at Steed is
not a walk in the park. Don't let the distance fool you. We did 7
last year and I don't think I heard anybody say they wanted more.

Housekeeping
Be careful pre-riding
Main trail will be cleared and marked Oct 28 weekend.
Remember that we are riding "counter - clockwise" this year (normal direction)
All of restrooms have been opened and showers available in the east restroom near the RV area as well as a small one at the far west pavilion.
General Store is CLOSED for the year.
Once again we are changing the START/FINISH
This is being done to keep the race from crossing the road. The west pavilion is definitely a nicer location to congregate after the race, but it's a pain to cut-in sections and monitor road crossings. We are going for simplicity this year.
We may use the road to add a little run-in to the trail head for the start, but that will be the only time your tires touch pavement.
The entry point will be the main Trail Head 50 feet or so east of the bathrooms by the boat ramp.
